Usually, if you click the footnote number it should either open a little window that contains the footnote, or it may bring you to the Notes part of the book. If this is the case, after reading the note, press on the number and it should re-direct you back to the page you were reading.

In any case, I can return by pressing the little circle on the bottom right of the page, where the page scan slider (scroll?) is. . |

Is there a way to display an in-chapter progress (bar) or any other easy way to know how many pages are left in the chapter?

Hello,
I’ve been reading the forum and saw that back in 2023 someone asked almost the same question about syncing MapleRead annotations into Calibre. The workaround that was suggested was to copy notes from the MapleRead server as HTML and paste them into a custom comments column in Calibre. That does work, but it doesn’t preserve the original location info of the annotations (so you lose where exactly in the book each highlight was made). Is this still the only way? Or maybe I just haven’t found a more up-to-date solution? |

I've been using Mapleread as my reader for quite some time now, and it works great However I've been living with this very annoying problem for as long as I can remember. Every time at the end of a chapter it seems to skip the last 3-page turns. At first, I didn't catch it, and just felt like I was always missing something, but since then I've learned to tap back 3 times at every chapter break and read the last 3-page turns.
I have not seen anyone else ever mention this anywhere, I feel like I'm the only one that has experienced this, and I have no idea how to change this behavior. A few years ago, I was in contact with the developer for a bit and nothing came of it. Must not be a bug just one of my settings messing with it. Does anyone else experience this or have any idea how to go about fixing it? Thanks. |

What book format are you reading in? I'm using MapleRead for epubs from multiple sources and I don't have the problem you describe with chapters. The only issue I have with chapter changes is the way it "sticks" at the bottom of each chapter and takes a "pull" to move to the next rather than continuous smooth scrolling the way other apps do.

I spent a little longer yesterday looking at the behavior and it appears to be tied to having publisher formatting on, along with override user formatting. It seems like it confuses the app and it's not able to determine the correct number of pages? Maybe, I've emailed the developer but haven't heard anything yet.

I’m trying to decide on a new app to upload my library into, and I would go with mapleread, but I can’t see anyway to rate books in it.
Does anyone have a way to rate books on something like a 1-5 star scale in mapleread? (I’d also love a way to search through tags and categories) Any advice? unfortunately, without it I’m this close to using book fusion even though I really just want a local copy of my library and hate subscriptions |

Does it work for you now? I have not experienced such page under-counting problem since upgrade. Actually neither do I recall encountering such problem (if occasionally) even before the upgrade. So I'm just curious if their recent fix is good for everyone here. |

I use Calibre on my computer to store the "primary" copy of all my ebooks, with ratings and tags there. Then I enabled the OPDS server in Calibre, and from MapleRead I connect to that on my personal WiFi and download the books to the iPad. Tags come in with the download, rating does not. The combo of Calibre + MapleRead has been extremely helpful for correctly sorting, tagging, and cleaning up the metadata on all my ebooks. |
