Does anybody else have trouble reading in certain seasons?

In my case, I find my reading drops off quite a bit during summer. I try, but I my head gets kind of fuzzy so I put the book down and do something else.

Not really, but I have had general trouble focusing for several years now, probably due to perimenopause. I find myself putting the book down after only a little while and doing something else, then picking it up again, rinse and repeat.

10-20 and more years ago I could read continuously for hours.

Probably winter for me. I usually sit on the screen porch everyday and read some in the morning and evening before dinner. Winter, I'm driven indoors more of the time.

It's not how much I read, it's what I read. I read much more light fiction in the summer. While I've always known this, I don't take preventative action leading into summer by clearing the decks of longer, more challenging stuff, especially nonfiction, in process. And then they hang. I finish them eventually, but it doesn't do my comprehension or retention any favors. The same thing happens during the holiday season, but at least the gap isn't as long; I'm not in nearly as much danger of losing the plot entirely.

Ironically, winter is usually my best reading season. I curl up in plush chair with blanket.

Seasons do not affect my reading in any way. Now work can affect my reading more than anything else.

This is the third year that I have stopped reading in late spring/summer. The first year, I had a specific reason. I have no idea why I stopped last year; I finished a book and inexplicably didn't pick up another for a few months. This year, I stopped mid-book, and not because I hated it or was bored by it. I keep thinking I do need to finish that book, but there it sits. Very weird, I know!

I did started reading continuosly in march, after some long time, so I don't know about the winter , though I find that there are hours during the day where I find easily the concentration, like in the evening: the 18:00s are like an on button .

I have “reading seasons”. I read a lot at times, and not so much at other times. I’m ok with that

There are very few days when I do not spend at least a couple of hours reading.

Not really anymore but that used to be the case for me in Summer when my son was in school, I was doing a lot more family time and reading dropped off considerably. Now it is not affected quite as much, but seasons so affect my reading preferences on reading spots a lot. Since I am a big team challenge person with Goodreads and do the Dewey's readathon my reading can pick up seasonally by challenges also.

Late Spring to early summer I tend to drop off. No reason that I can really point to as I don't do gardening.

I have multiple hobbies that don't play well together; occasionally I'll focus on one to the exclusion of others because I have some sort of external deadline.

I try to have multiple books going, so that if I'm in a reading "slump", I can read something light for a few minutes here and there. It takes me longer to finish books, especially the long ones, but at least I'm reading a little bit when I can.
