I mean, they do point out the tradeoffs which seems reasonable to me. It's actually a pretty good list.

And I still think color eInk is perfectly fine even without the front light in most situations. I'm happy with the tradeoffs and think a lot of people would be too.

Just because you don't like color eink doesn't mean everyone doesn't. I personally have gotten quite fond of my Colorsoft. I still have my Nook GL4 when I feel the urge for page turn buttons, but I use my Colorsoft the most.

And for the record, the readers with buttons on one side only would be way down the list for me.

I find no need for color for MY type of reading (Fiction). When I do need color, I also need a bigger screen (Laptop) for manuals and repair guides.

kaleido overlay means less contrast, less sharpness, some can see speckles on text in BW, and you may need to use the front light more then you would without the kaleido overlay.

Overall, color eInk using kaleido are down the list in terms of hardware.

What I discovered with my Oasis is that I change hands constantly when I read. Having to rotate the reader every time really bugs me. I have no need for color either since I also read mainly fiction, but I like it anyway.

Heh. What I discovered with my first Oasis was that I love ereaders with one wide edge. They're much more comfortable for me to hold. I change hands infrequently, so rotating the device doesn't bother me.

Symmetrical devices would be at the bottom of the list for me, color or not.

I'm confused by this - you can set to Portrait and have Auto Rotate on, and never get landscape accidentally.

Some people lay more importance on color, that's fine.
I'd take color if there were zero reduction in contrast, resolution, speed or ghosting.
But that will probably never be in my lifetime.
So I'll stick with B&W.

I switch hands too but just move my keyfob to the other hand.
