Several episodes of Transformers: Animated. It is an excellent series that is a bit of an amalgamation of the Transformers series that came before it. One thing I like about it is that unlike previous series here Optimus Prime starts out as an Autobot Academy washout due to a mistake he took the full blame for. He still kept his rank as a Prime but was relegated to a bottom-level position. He had to learn how to be a leader and to take a group of misfits and turn them into a team.

After watching the new Matlock series with Kathy Bates, we we both really enjoyed, we started the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series last night. The first episode is promising.
I also watched the trailer for HBO's Welcome to Derry series, which is set to be released later this year. It's set in 1962 and follows a group of kids in Derry. From the trailer it looks like it will feature some story lines/elements that were in the book but not in the recent movies. I'm really looking forward to this series and I'm now tempted to reread the book again. |

We're currently watching Nancy Drew (2019). Tonight we started season 2.
I had already seen the first three seasons, but hadn't gotten around to the fourth and final season. My sister didn't know what to watch so I put on the first season. She's always saying she doesn't like horror or spooky things, yet she enjoys anything Stephen King and Fear Street, so she said she thought she wouldn't like it. She was wrong. We've been watching three or four episodes each night. I do hope the fourth season doesn't end in a cliff hanger, but got a proper ending to the series. |

This week I have been watching Dept. Q on Netflix (Matthew Goode). I didn't care much for the 1st episode, but it got better and I was hooked in the 2nd episode.
Over the past month I watched all 5 seasons of Yellowstone, the only season of 1883 and the two seasons of 1923. Some of Yellowstone and 1923 is implausible, but I kept watching. I liked 1883 more than the other two series. Last month I watched the Four Seasons, a remake of the 1981 movie. This was written by Tina Fey and she's in it with Colman Domingo, Steve Carelle, Will Forte and others. Last edited by mlewis78; 06-20-2025 at 02:04 AM. |

I'm assuming you mean Dept. Q (unless it had a different title in other regions)? I thought it started a little rough, too. But it did get much better. I watched the first episode when it first appeared on Netflix. I paused at one point and came back only to find the series was entirely gone from Netflix! Not sure what happened. I searched online long enough to make sure that I wasn't dreaming the whole thing (I wasn't: many Netflix users were as confused as I)! It was all back by the following morning, thank goodness. CTV Sci-Fi began airing Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. I watched the first two episodes.
I'm... not sure what I think of it so far. I sort of like it. But there's just enough oddities and inconsistencies that I can't entirely buy it as a prequel to the original 1960s series and i can't really mesh that together in my head. Last edited by ownedbycats; 06-19-2025 at 10:15 AM. |

I'm currently watching the movie 28 Days Later. It's very oddly filmed. It's shot in digital low-res so it looks like SD played back in HD.

There's a TNG episode where Worf keeps traveling between parallel timelines, eventually resulting in a 'quantum fissure' and the amazing line "At this rate, the sector will be completely filled with Enterprises within three days." And the Abrams movies were based on one of these split timelines. So yeah, my personal canon is that SNW (and Discovery, which preceded it but I not seen) is in a different timeline from TOS. Because I can't reconcile it otherwise. That said, its a pretty nice show and Im actually enjoying it. Last edited by ownedbycats; 06-23-2025 at 05:38 PM. |

We're taking a little break from Nancy Drew, before starting the fourth and final season.
We're now catching up on Poker Face, it's fun to see how many big names have guest roles. Cynthia Erivo played quintuplets in the first episode of the season, that must have been a nightmare to film! |

I went to see 28 Years Later in cinema yesterday. I'm not generally one to enjoy zombie movies/series/books but I loved it, not your typical zombie movie. The ending was unexpected and sets up the second movie in this trilogy (already filmed, coming out in January). The third movie hasn't been green lit yet, but I hope it will soon, that's the movie where Jim (Cillian Murphy) is set to return.

Some characters inexplicably change race—Robert April, which I can forgive as he only appeared once in the animated series (which had pink Klingon outfits), and transporter chief Kyle, which is just 'huh?' because he could've been a new character. Spock saying in TOS that he's "never used [a mind meld] on a human" is outright contradicted by him doing that in SNW. The episode "Memento Mori" had a scene where it's questionable whether two characters would survive the episode.... one of those characters is Uhura. Who we know survives. Kind of the problem with prequels... |
