My only Kindle is a very old PW, from no later than 2016. To test this I just bought a cheap boxed set from the Amazon website and selected download & transfer. No warning message of any kind.

I just got caught up downloading my last 8 amazon ebook purchases. Worked fine and Calibre removed DRM. No issues. I download for a kindle voyage, although I think it works for my oasis 3rd edition as well.

I'm in the US. I didn't have the message earlier today but I am getting it now. So it is rolling out to all accounts it looks like. Sad.

For now I can still have books sent to my K4BNT and get them into Calibre that way. (I still have a K3 too but the battery is shot...I left it dead for too long.)

I just had this happen to me as well. Yesterday I downloaded all "Available Updates" and saw no message. Today the message appeared. Target device was a firmware updated PW5.

Just wondering, would it be possible to block the delivery of KFX on a jailbroken device to always receive KF8? Like spoof the firmware version?

I know the K5 aka K4BNT will since I have that one. I believe KF8 started with the K3/Keyboard, so K3, K4, K5/K4BNT. After that I'm not sure as I skipped several generations. I know my 10th gen Oasis is KFX.

I'm not aware of any way to spoof the firmware, however it is possible to downgrade a jailbroken device; if the Kindle is old enough, it should be possible to downgrade it to a pre-KFX firmware version.

This being said I'm not sure what Amazon's response would be to a registered device which used to receive KFX files and suddenly can't handle them anymore, as downgrading is not a normal use case.
