That's really odd. There is no delay here. Every click opens the graphic in a split of a second. Even when restarting/shutting down, or after hours without using calibre.

Anyone else experiencing a delay?

New test version
In this version, I disabled the link color and added text-decoration (underline). Also, the link text turns red when hovered.

Sorry about that. Maybe there is another bug yet to be discovered, because those test versions do not touch the database. The modifications were read only.

I was able to get my settings back because I have the config back installed. So I was able to restore a backup before the data was wiped.
