Sending Books to a device

How do I send my books to an e-reader so that the metadata is read and they go into catagories? I am looking for a new reader, and I want to be able to put my Calibre books in it, but I want them to be organized like they are in a KOBO or Kindle so that the metadata is read, whatever tags, or how the name, author shows up.

Im not sure how to do it. I am looking at BOOX or something like that. It would be great if I could access my Calibre collection directly from it, but since Calibre doesn't run on a tablet, that's impossible.

Any suggestions?

Another Kobo. There is no other Reader like a Kobo for organizing your eBooks with calibre.

But it does run on tablet, the tablet known as the Microsoft Surface Go.

Maybe works on some Chromebooks that convert to tablets or detach keyboard. The later ChromeOS is apparently a more standard Linux that also runs most Android Apps. There are Intel/AMD (poorer battery life) and ARM versions.

I've run Debian 64 bit on a W10 tablet (Atom based than only ran 32 bit win10) and that worked better than MS Windows, except it needs and extra script to xix touch after rotation.

Certainly Calibre won't work on iOS or Android tablets, which work better at tablety stuff than Linux or Windows Surface. Android is pretty rubbish for content creation other than notes.a

The issue with calibre on ChromeBooks is that while it does mostly work, USB devices are passed through to the linux subsystem as mounted file systems with no exposing of their underlying USB device ids. This renders calibre device detection as useless.
