Any whispers of new Kobos?
After Amazon kindly shot itself in the foot (or least grazed it) with its less than stellar colour launches, I'm wondering ifd there have been any FCC filings or even just grapevine whispers of anything new coming from RK. My wishes are simple - an 8-inch Sage 2 with a Carta 1600 screen, 600 dpi, 2.5Ghz CPU and 5 week battery life when used at maximimum brightness for 7 hours a day.

An iPad Mini weighs 293 grams. So, a mere ereader should be able to weigh less.
Given a high enough price. |

The eink is good enough now for capacitive. I've had/have two or three IR touch. I'd sooner give up the light pipe layer which reduces sharpness and brightness; the capacitive touch only reduces brightness a little.
The IR is poorer resolution as the screen gets bigger, thus the worst was the Kobo H2O original and best is the Sony PRS-350 (assuming it is IR). The capacitive touch screens have been good enough with ambient light since Voyage / PW3 / Oasis 1 (all 6″), if the light is good enough to read paper. No touch is OK until you want to search or highlight or navigate. Then it's a pain. |

Well, I would never buy an eink reader without frontlight. The frontlight has spoiled me - I can no longer stand those grey screens, they look downright ugly to me when unlit. I always read with the light on, even in a brightly lit room, because I want my screen to look white/off-white/yellowish white, not grey.

Everyone has overlooked the price, perhaps mythical, it should be under $200 AUD not USD
