lol, I just wish she'd stop going on and on about not feeling anything! it gets old after the first ten times the character thinks the same thing!

No sex in chapter one. There is a vampire.

However, it is a very rough draft - no doubt that might change (although she better hurry, it comes out, what, June 2?)

i hope it doesn't change. i liked the old format, and this has a bit of it - she starts off in the office (when was the last time she was even IN the office?) dealing with a vampire situation. bert and mary are mentioned. no boyfriends are in the room.

btw, rumor has it that edward is in this one

When did she actually go from writing supernatural action to the low-grade erotica? I recall the first couple, at least, were very fun, and then it all went downhill. All I know is that everyone I've picked up since was packed full of the most laughable erotica I have ever been subjected to in my life.

There's maybe a handful of writers in the world who can write erotica well, and I'm afraid Laurell K Hamilton is not one of them.

besides, just because she's "discovered" BDSM doesn't mean she can't also have a farking plot. oh, sorry - so far, it does seem to mean exactly that. too bad because the first 5 books were pretty good stuff, even if i did hate richard.

She had a good thing going, something quite fun and full of action and then...poof!...it was like reading the diary of an illiterate nymphomaniac. Plot went out the window, Anita Blake's whole character contradicted all of the earlier stories. Has she gone into the realm of BDSM now? Damn, I'm glad I stopped reading her work.

I got through four books of the Merry Gentry series, before the erotica crossed my comfort level a few too many times. I loved the fairy premise behind the books, and that's probably what kept me reading them that long. But after a few scenes of interspecies (well, what DO you call it when it's with a troll?) intimacy, I decided that was a bit too weird for me.
I tried the first Anita Blake book and made it I think through the second chapter, got distracted and haven't picked it back up yet. I will, eventually - but for right now there's way too much being released in my preferred genre that I can't keep up. I've spent more on books since I got my EZ Reader than I spent in the whole four previous years I lived here after losing my book collection.

Yeah ... I stopped reading the Anita Blake series because it made me "think too hard". Try the other one, it got bells on... IF she tried to make her readers think she obviously failed very, very hard.

Starting with the first book and then growing steadily more annoying.
What I disliked even more was the more and more laughable opponents (can you spell "overpowered but ridiculous" any stronger? I mean .. many fantasy series suffer from "stronger and stronger" symptoms, but few as serious as this serie...)

--edit: Perhaps I should state that I dont dislike erotic literature - but I dislike Hamiltons

i'm not uncomfortable with erotica - i write porn stories for a living. but it's not what i got into anita blake to read, for one thing. i like the adventures and the characters. also sad to say that laurell k. hamilton writes her bdsm like a tourist.
