What color should the bezels of an ereader be? - Page 2

I voted black, but I wanted to see what the "I don't care" colour looks like.

I'd vote for "I don't care unless it's particularly egregious" if it were an option.

And I'm not 100% sure what "particularly egregious" would look like. I suspect it'd probably be like how the late Supreme Court justice Potter Stewart defined "hard-core pornography" aka "I'll know it when I see it"

I suspect "it" involves being shiny or an obnoxiously bright color, the type that one might find as the main color on a reflective safety vest.

EDIT: and light-colored plastic tends to get kinda dingy or ends up yellowing like old Super Nintendo consoles did.

I asked this question in another thread, so thank you, Sirtel, for making the poll. I voted black, red, green, blue, and purple. As long as the bezel contrasts with the screen, I'm okay with it.

I voted black, but a dark blue or dark green might be ok too. White wouldn't be objectionable. Not really a priority in choosing an ereader though, as long as it's not some bright or ugly color.

When available, I prefer white — just like the page edges in a paper book. Then I would set the eInk margin to as close to zero as practical.

Now, if using reverse video, I’d prefer black. But I don’t use reverse video.

I got an e-reader with a black bezel, since my eyes are sensitive to light, and I didn't want a bright white bezel glaring at me. I suppose a grey bezel would be an ideal balance between not reflecting light while blending with the canvas.

I've had a red Sony PRT something, which was just to distinguish it from the former black one, but I didn't care much for it. I've had a white Kobo glow which made the screen look horrible. I've bought a skin once (mostly black) for a Sony PRT because the bezels were shiny black and slippery - it really helped. I'd say any neutral matt color, for instance mid- to charcoal grey would be fine.

The other problem with white plastic is how it looks in, say, a year or two.
