Ah, data, the more the merrier! I'm basically a miner, data miner, that is, or as one so wise has pointed out:What's the MobileRead.com Megabyte Club? "An attachment that is 1+ MB in filesize and has been downloaded 1000+ times qualifies a MobileRead.com Member to be part of the Megabyte Club". No other special admission requirements, at this time, but we (OK I) reserve the right to amend this without notice... Below are .html files (in .zip files) that show the same 25 Members' entries in the Megabyte Club in various sorted orderings. All links therein are active and can be followed to the threads where these attachments exist. Have fun with this! EDIT: added new files (Gigabyte pictures and .zips) to recognize the "Gigabyte Club" idea Last edited by nrapallo; 04-22-2009 at 03:21 PM. I hadn't really thought of that, just wanted filesizes of 1+ MB, and then I tried to narrow down that list by choosing an appropriate cut-off level. Given that I settled on 1000+ downloads, then the 1000 MB Club could be called the GB Club! |

Thanks to Paul's suggestion, I now have added new files (Gigabyte picture and .zip) to post #1 above to recognize the "Gigabyte Club" idea. Cumulative these 25 files account for approx. 0.45 TB (Terabyte) in traffic. Shocking to see those traffic/bandwidth results, including my PDFRead installer. Sorry Alex! I'd hate to see the traffic numbers for the Calibre new release downloads that are hosted on the MobileRead.com servers... Last edited by nrapallo; 04-22-2009 at 12:51 PM. Reason: added total traffic of just those 25 files |

Another late addition, in Traffic per Day order i.e. MB / Day bandwidth.

Have you included stats for downloads from dev.mobileread.com?

There are some problems with the attachment stats. In the past ther ehave been some bots crawling along MR downloading some of the attachments over and over and over. So unless you can figure out which ones and how many extra hits to remove, the stats will contain errors.

NOW, if you want to question if every download was a valid and pertinent download, then for sure there will be some "problem" downloads therein and the number of downloads will then not be a true reflection of the file's popularity and/or usefulness. Stats are stats, read into them what you may. p.s. Hey, Jon, you're already at the top of the heap traffic-wise, and perhaps could be dubbed the "Most Voluminous One" ... And I'm gunning for side-kick duties ...

Sep-03-2009 update to Gigabyte Club Transfers per Day

I just noticed that my pdfread-1.8.2-Installer.zip has now virtually tied JSWolf's BookDesigner40.zip in MB's downloaded per day i.e. 175.66 MB vs 175.69 MB respectively! See below attachment for exact details... JSWolf's BookDesigner40.zip is still leader of the Total GB Traffic, but PDFRead's installer now is in (distant) second place i.e. 139.83 GB vs 86.46 GB... Let's see who blinks first and has to update their post... Last edited by nrapallo; 09-03-2009 at 08:20 PM. |

 June 2010 Update

And for the first time, PDFRead's installer leads in MB/day traffic. From the Downloads Ave/Day column, it can be seen that, on average, BookDesigner40.zip is being downloaded 18 times a day whereas PDFRead's installer has averaged 16 times a day since it was first posted. Don't you just love useless stats... Last edited by nrapallo; 06-18-2010 at 05:51 PM.

 Sept 2011 milestone

I just noticed ( I'm probably the only one that would) that PDFRead has just eclipsed BookDesigner as the most downloaded program in the Workshop forum i.e. 23,717 for PDFread vs 23,716 for BookDesigner. Hurray!!!??!!! Last edited by nrapallo; 10-01-2011 at 11:59 PM. Reason: typo |
