Doesn't matter. It's so easy to make these eBooks backwards compatible. ADE 2.0.1 is there to make sure that eBooks work well enough. If they work with ADE 2.0.1, they'll work pretty much anywhere.

Plus, ADE 2.0.1 is there because DeDRM did not have support for the newer DRM. The current DeDRM code does have support.

But why make these eBooks with such code when they don't need it? Sure, they can be ePub 3 with accessibility. But they can also be made with simple CSS.

"Lie" is a just a tiny bit hyperbolic, doncha think? Is ADE 2.01 even available for download from Adobe any more? Is it even supported? If you have to resort to finding archived copies of the the reading software somewhere on the internet, then I think it's more than fair to not worry about staying compatible with it.

And saying they're "lying" about compatibility because they don't support unsupported desktop software is just dumb.

The smart money is in waiting for you to open your free ebooks site, all formatted to the specifications required to work with ADE 2.0.1. You already have thousands of books and the site is nearly ready, right?

That's not correct. These ePub will not work on all devices and all apps. Sure they say it won't work on Kobo. but there are devices and apps it won't work on.

Again, Jon, this simply shows that Adobe screwed up. Dumping the entire stylesheet when the program runs into something that it does not understand? How that qualify as "any unsupported properties must be gracefully degraded"? Do you also complain that using auto for margin left and right does not center an image in ADE 2.0.1? That smallcaps does not work in ADE 2.0.1? That gesperrt text does not work in ADE 2.0.1? Or any of the other valid EPUB2 properties that ADE 2.0.1 does not support?

Doesn't matter that ADE tosses the entire CSS. They say ALL devices and apps. That is wrong. Not all devices other then Kindle and Kobo and not all apps.

Thing is, they don't need to support ADE 2.01 to be as compatible as they claim. Nobody actually reads anything with with ADE 2 desktop software. They just keep it around so they can remove DRM.
