I have seen major authors lately getting weary and wary confused. I think some have read too many fanfics, because the problem seems rampant there. I just started automatically changing it in my head (they almost never mean weary) and got confused when I did it and the sentence didn't make sense. I finally realized that weary was what they really meant and what they had written.

When you get an Amazon First Reads free with Prime book, and you LIKE it, and then you try to buy the number two book in the series only to see PRE-ORDER and the date it will be available is December 5, 2023.

BIG SIGH! By then, I probably won't even remember the book. And there's no way I'm pre-ordering a year in advance.

never used it, lol. I just download the metadata, hopefully in plain text -- no formatting.

Rants are individual, of course. But for me, this would be a good thing. An indicator of quality, as opposed to books that are cranked out on a monthly basis.

Why not just put the book on your wishlist and see how you feel next December?

I don't disagree with the main thrust of your point. But Amazon's wishlist is lacking. A few simple improvements would make it better.

Like send an email when an item on your wishlist goes on sale. GoodOldGames does that and I have bought many games I otherwise would still be thinking about because the price was right. That is basically ereaderIQ. Seems like it would be easy enough to implement it. I have some shoes on my wishlist that fluctuate in price very often (some Nautica Crocs knockoffs, which tells you about my fashion sense). They have already gone down to a price where I would buy them, but I missed it.

If a prerelease book is on your wishlist, send an email when the book is available for purchase rather than preorder.

Kobo does this! It's nice getting a book for a lot cheaper (especially when it also lets you apply partners22 on top).

YES! I was staggered to receive my very first of these just a couple of weeks ago - finally my Kobo Wishlist proving useful.

That's a good idea, and I will, only I rarely use my book wishlist on Amazon. Amazon purchases are more a case of finding a series I like where the first book is free, then I happily buy the next, usually on the Kindle and read my way through.

More expensive ebooks I'm more likely to purchase at Kobo. Or borrow from my library.

As for quality, you could be right, as books cranked out monthly sometimes are indeed lacking. It's just that it's annoying to get introduced to a series when only ONE book actually exists. Of course, I have only myself to blame, as I could have looked to see if any other books had been written yet.

Ah well!

Good to know and THANKS! I really need to utilize these wishlists more. I keep a fairly extensive wishlist for LIBRARY books, yet, have nearly NOTHING as far as ebook STORE wishlists going.

But my library doesn't have it all...

Snort, you know, in my line, I see metadata from writers, publishers, every. single. day and sometimes, you just GOTTA wonder. It's like there is a short-circuit directly from the keyboard to the noggin.
