Send to Kindle by Web

Amazon has web pages up that allow personal documents to be sent via drag and drop without using email or an app.

There is a maximum of 200MB per file. The title is set to the file name by default, but you can change the title and author manually as desired. It shows progress upload and processing progress along with the status of recent uploads.

Oh, thank you for that. Did they change the limit? I though it was lower than that.

I believe that the limit is 50MB when sending via email.

The new web page says that MOBI is not supported. However it does work if you rename the file to have a supported extension before sending to the web page.

More sensible than email, but don't forget there is a privacy and security issue. Amazon should only have the books they sell you. This is a convenience designed to feed Amazon; Send to Kindle is not altruism.

Hopefully now someone will take time to try and create Calibre plugin that uses that same API?

Oh. This is nice.

This already solves my main problem with the pc version.

Being able to send bulk books from different authors is nice to have.

It also shows a processing animation so I don't have to keep checking my email if a book has been rejected.

I guess the trade off for now is you have to manually download/deliver the books/documents you sent.

I thought that was the limit for the Send To Kindle app. Email was more like 20MB (or used to be).

At any rate, maybe no need to use the S2K app.

Inbound email size limit is 50M on the Amazon side. Your specific email sender may have a lower size limit on attachments. Gmail is currently 25M, Yahoo mail is 25M, Outlook.com is 34M, etc.

Thanks, I haven't used email delivery for a long time, because Send To Kindle was always more generous (and lets you fix the title/author, pick a device to send it to).

But web is even better, might even work with mobile devices browsers (have to try it). And unlike the current version of Send To Kindle, it has direct support for EPUB.

Not planning to uninstall Send To Kindle. It's supposed to get an update, for one thing (to remove mobi support, add epub support etc.).

It works well from my smartphone's browser, with a small advantage over the Android Kindle App I use: the title supports special characters and the author's name is taken from the metadata, so there is no need to fill it in.

I sent about 50 files at once using the web interface and it didn't have any problem. I wonder what's the max number of files you can send at once.

I have uploaded 240 files and it has processed and sent them all at once quickly. There seems to be no limit on the number. The question I have is whether the 200 MB cap is only for one file or also for one upload.
