When someone gets hold of one of these, can you please confirm whether the "page turn animation" is enabled on this device?

I got this today. Despite being registered to my account, it doesn't show up in content and devices on Amazon. And I got an email about setting up a kids account. I didn't buy the kids kindle. Has anyone else experienced this?

@booklover6: if you have the Kobo Clara HD, how does the speed compare with this Kindle?
(page turn speed and general usage speed)
Also screen quality.

Page turns within a book are faster in the 2022 basic Kindle.

Page turns of the library are about the same.

Both screens are good, but I greatly prefer the warm light ability on the Kobo Clara HD. I didn't realize how much I liked that feature until I got this reader without it!

I got mine a few days ago. I've been trying to like it--the size is good and it's responsive--but the screen is a deal-killer. My first generation Paperwhite, with 167 dpi is much, much easier to read on.

Yes, please, would you mind elaborating? I was hoping that this would be an upgrade for my PW3 as I didn't care for the latest Paperwhite. But if the screen is poor, it's a no-go.

While the characters are well-formed, the maximum brightness is quite dim and the background is a more of a light-gray than the true white on all my other Kindles--I have a Paperwhite 1, 2, and 4, a Voyage and a first generation Oasis.

As another comparison I have the Onyx Poke 4 lite, which has a 212dpi screen and it also seems sharper and brighter on a whiter background.

I can read this screen, but after a while it feels like I'm working very hard.

I looked up some reviews of the new basic.

They compared it with a paperwhite 4, and the pw4 looked 'whiter' than the new basic. It does a better dark mode than the pw4 tho.

I don't think it's at the level where it would bother me. I wasn't really expecting Amazon to put a paperwhite-like screen on their basic models.

In the reviews I've seen, the 2022 screen looks a lot like the Paperwhite 4, which (for being the bottom line Kindle) seems about right. Of course it's hard to tell exactly what it looks like from the reviews.

One thing I don't understand, why is this Basic Kindle being compared to the Clara 2E instead of the Nia?

You've made me curious also. So far I haven't seen anyone actually turn a page in one of the reviews.

Because the Kindle is 300dpi and the Nia is not.

This video shows page turns. There is no page turn animation.

But the Clara 2E has a "warm" screen, is waterproof, and the Kindle Basic is not. The Clara 2E should be compared to the Kindle Paperwhite. The Nia and Kindle Basic are the low-end offerings of their respective companies, and both cost $100.
