The only thing that I (personally) hadn't seen before was this (if others have already read and posted this, I'm sorry for the redundancy)...

They got that part from the goodereader blog and that guy never quotes his sources even though he rips stuff off from here or other sites without credit, so who knows if that part is true. That guy has gotten specs wrong without issuing corrections in the past, so I would take anything that was sourced from there with a grain of salt.

I hope this ComfortGaze doesn't make the screen unpleasantly yellowish overall. That would suck. The comfort light already exists for reducing blue light if one needs or wants to, and can be turned off if one doesn't want to.

The part that the Clara 2E would have that tech first came from that other blog and other sites are reporting off of that. You can verify it by comparing the dates of the articles; some of the derivative articles even quote that blog as their source. Who knows if it's true; unless he really has inside sources at Kobo, am not sure where he got it from.

Let's hope it is true that the 2e is going to be using ComfortGaze.

I mean, do we not have that already?

Kobo introduced "ComfortLight" in 2016 with the Aura One. And today you can adjust the color of the front light on most readers, take out as much blue light and make it as much orange/yellow/red as you like...

This is different. ComfortGaze takes out some of the blue light of the regular light. So it could be whiter (I don't know yet).

I'm still not sure about ComfortGaze support, mainly because of the FCC report. E-Ink announced the tech at the beginning of April, and while the FCC filing happened in June, the device itself was in the testing lab in March. So that would have been before the ComfortGaze announcement.

I assume that the engineering sample has to have near-final hardware for submission, so did Kobo have early access to the tech before it was announced? That's why I'm 60% certain that badereader author pulled the info out of his butt or got it confused with something else. I guess time will tell.

Don't worry about it. This is more of a theoretical discussion, I guess.

It is highly unlikely that the Clara 2E will get ANY "new" features at all, that we have not seen in other Kobo devices already.

The developers usually reserve new features for their top-tier devices and every lower tier model just gets them handed down later. So whatever Kobo is working on right now will be implemented with the next Elipsa in a couple of years (or whatever follows that).

The light on my Libra 2 is not the same as it is on my Aura H2O. The Aura H2O is whiter. So yes, there is a ting of blue light showing. So I do think this new ComfortGaze could be better. The main reason I want to see it is that I want to know how well it works on a non-color eInk screen.

That figures. So they're mixing together the Clara 2E and the new E-Ink color screens. Thanks for the clarification.
