@jiembe: You are probably overriding the calibre lt.png/library.png icon in your icon theme. The protections I put in the code to prevent it being overridden dont work with the new icon loading scheme. I will have to update them. https://github.com/kovidgoyal/calibr...a334954e3c9e36

@theducks: That looks like the eraser icon. Dunno why you are seeing it? You using a custom icon theme?

@BR: The support for changing icon themes dynamically on light/dark switch requires them to be packaged differently. You should be able to override individual icons in the config folder still, but if you have an entire icon theme unzipped there it get auto repackaged.

And the calibre-ebook.com folder is likely created by Qt for some of its settings, remind me in the future to look into how to prevent it doing that.

No worries

When the indexing finishes on the backup drive I'll delete it and its mates in AppData\Local and see where they get recreated. Be nice if they were all kept in the same place.

The dates on the icon files suggest the content of my <config>\resources\images folder was copied en-masse from an install folder of version 2.48 in Nov 2016, perhaps that was when flat icons were introduced, and that may have been before the implementation of themes. I've never installed or created any themes.

Is there some way I can get back to what I had?

I am seeing the same icon for clearing the search as @theducks. Just checked and I didn't have anything that looked like that in resources/images. There were few empty directories that I removed and it didn't change anything. Then I renamed the resources directory and started calibre with no change.

This is on Windows 10. With one of the other issues I have been having, I uninstalled calibre, so it should be clean.

Here in the Netherlands, temperatures above 80F/25C used to be pretty rare. What would we need air conditioning for?

There's got to be something in the config directory causing it. Try running with

CALIBRE_CONFIG_DIRECTORY=xxx calibre

this will run the welcome wizard and then show calibre. Do you still get the wrong icon?

That shows the correct icon. Now to work out where the other one is coming from. Maybe I'll just put up with it
