The video should actually be linked in the initial thread. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. Now I can't get any further with Jailbreak, step 10 (PW2). When I click on the store icon, I get the message: "Application Error: The selected application could not be started. Please try again." and a restart is not performed. When I restart manually afterwards, everything is as before. Does anyone know what could be the reason for this and how to fix it?

I had the same problem with the same "The selected application could not be started." message with my Kindle Voyage on the 10th step. I did the following after that. 1. Press the Power button and hold ~40 seconds to force restart. 2. After reboot, it brings you back to some cartoon screen saver (Demo mode), then tap a screen and perform the "secret gesture" to go to the Home screen. 3. On the Home screen, click the Search box and enter ";demo" (without quotes). 4. In Demo Menu, press "Sideload Content" button. 5. In "Demo Mode: Add Content" screen, press "Done" (without connecting to PC USB), and press "Exit". 6. On the Home screen, enter ";dsts" to enter the Settings menu. Press "Help & User Guides" > "Get Started" to jailbreak the device. 7. Under "Please wait a moment while your Kindle starts up." message, you will see "... jailbreaking ..." at the bottom. 8. After the reboot, you need to perform the secret gesture again (one last time) to go to the Home screen. Then follow the "Post Jailbreak" instructions. Quote:

Does anyone know if a factory reset will remove the jailbreak and all traces of it? Or does it only reset certain settings and files?

A reset followed by firmware update removes the jailbreak.

Once the jb is complete, is it safe to change the locale from en_gb? I would be going to en_us. I am running 5.13.7

Hello, just a little feedback after doing this jailbreak. I first updated my PW5 from 5.14.0 to 5.14.1.1. Then, followed this tutorial and installed KUAL and KOReader. I noticed a high battery consumption of ~1%/h in sleep mode (with and without KOReader). After a hard reboot (holding power button), battery consumption is very low. Thank you ! |
