I can confirm that watchguard jailbreak (r03) works on Kindle Voyage 5.13.6. Thanks katadelos and the team!

A couple notes:

• despite updated version supporting en_US, only en_GB worked for me. When I tried jailbreak on a Kindle set up as English (United States), clicking on "Getting Started" guide did not reboot the device, even though ;demo debugging said that the extension with correct MD5 hash was loaded. Might have been a glitch on my end though.
• the hardest part was mastering the secret gesture :-) If someone else is stuck on "This demonstration device is either missing content or is disconnected from the network.", there is a YouTube video demonstrating the two finger tap / swipe (found it here)
• spacequince's post-jailbreak sequence works great. Except, I used original KUAL version (not coplate's). Not sure what's the difference in case of a Kindle Voyage though.
• for posterity/Google-ability, in case mega.nz link suffers bitrot in the future, the watchthis-jailbreak-r03.zip has the following hashes: SHA1 =

Thanks for the jailbreak!

I’m in demo mode, but cannot for the life of me create a .demo directory in my kindle root directory.

It kicks me our each time and doesn’t let me do it.

Trying on Windows 10 via Parallels.

I also tried using cd then mkdir but this didn’t work either. I read that updating to Windows 11 enables naming with . But is there anything else I can try first? Thank you

Booting a live linux thumb drive or DVD, which might also come in handy for other things.

I’m sorry, that doesn’t make sense to me I’m afraid. Do you mean I should set up a new VM with Linux. I don’t know how to use Linux yet. Hopefully I will learn one day.

It doesn’t matter really, I just wanted the two pages view in KO Reader, but if it’s not doable, I’ll just do another factory reset and use the stock firmware.

I’m going to try updating my Windows 10, I think that will do it.

Did mkdir return an error, or is it that you don't see the directory in Windows Explorer? E.g. would the directory appear if you do dir? Maybe try escaping it, i.e., mkdir ".demo". Alternatively, you could try renaming a directory, e.g. "demo" (with no dot) using ren or Windows Explorer. StackOverflow thinks that for the latter you want to add an extra dot at the end, i.e., rename it to ".demo." and Windows would strip the trailing dot.

I don’t understand what you mean though.

Live linux drives/disks are like installation disks except they also can be booted and run without putting anything on the computer's disks. They are used to try out linux without having to install it. They are also used to help in repairing broken computers or for linux users to get something done when visiting a friend or relative that doesn't have a computer with linux.

I think somehow the renameotabin plays a role even after a factory reset?
My other thought is that Amaz.on pushed something secretly to my PW3 (I suddenly had whispersync settings and some child lock settings) when I switched accounts. However software is still on 5.14.2

Thanks so much - I just created it using an extra dot at the end and that worked to give me .demo

I have it all working, and KOReader is installed, happy me.

Do I have to install something to block OTA updates? I have been looking but can’t find the info (I can always find it when I don’t need it, but when I do need it? ) I will wait to hear about this before reregistering over wifi.
