If you stay with 5.10.x and you did "prevent OTA updates" you should be safe from unwanted updates. If you do manually update, you need to reinstall everything, including KUAL.

Also many people have had their JB kindle registered for years without problem.

2. Registering my jailbroken kindle will not compromise the jailbreak or the prevention of the OTA updates- will amazon know that my kindle is jailbroken-will there be consequences for this?



If possible I would also like to know if there is a better way; to create new folders and manipulate and move files into them, than using KOreader (bascially I am looking for KOreaders file managing interface without launching KOreader).

You can use native linux commands to create and manipulate folder by logging in over USB or using kterm. If you have USB mass storage enabled, you can mount your kindle on a computer over USB and use tools on the computer.

1) As long as you stay on 5.10.x and never update to 5.11.x you *should* be fine. If you would like to have a firmer confirmation, fill up your Kindle storage until less than 200 Mb left free.

2) JB is essentially a few files in the system, which *possibly* could be checked by Amazon. However no one had reported being blocked or prevented by Amazon just because of that yet, or that Amazon let the user know that they know about JB. Anyway, if not OTA, you should still be able to update manually (if you decide to do so, make sure to take proper precautions to save JB: hotfix, double restart before and after update + block OTA update methods afterwards)

If you mean to create and search around the folders from Kindle, unfortunately there is no sane method left. You can try KPV Booklet to launch books from Kindle menu but it hasn’t been updated for so long that it severely affects how KOReader functions (i.e. it breaks it). Also it can’t create folders anyway.

What is the thing you want to do with “folders outside KOReader”? Maybe Calibre plugin can help? Or Cloud access plugin (haven’t tried that yet though, just a guess)

5.11.x is still fine with KUAL Helper+ add-on > Block OTA Updates

That creates both update.bin.tmp.partial folder blocker and SKIP_UPDATE_CHECK file blocker. The folder blocker doesn't work on 5.11 but the file blocker still does.

It's 5.12.x where both methods stop working.

You only need to downgrade if you want to stay on older firmware. You lose the new series grouping feature but it's easier to block OTA updates on 5.11.x and older (install KUAL Helper+ add-on and enable Block OTA updates menu option). Preventing updates is also safer for JB as we don't know if/when a new firmware completely defeats JB+hotfix.

Again, you'd need to reinstall pretty much everything that was installed via MRPI: KUAL, Python, Screensaver, etc.

I onlz had to reinstall MRPI and KUAL but Screensaver and Chess still working fine

Jailbreak allows you to add apps, but does not by itself add anything. You need to find a package that does what you want. The one below looks like what you want.

Did you continue to Step 5? You don't need to go to developer mode or anything. Just continue following the steps from the guide.

Mind, there is this warning in the guide.

*Note: USB mount fails on some Macs when running diags firmware. If this happens, please switch to a Windows or Linux PC for this step.

Again, continue with Step 5. It's supposed to go into diags mode as part of the downgrade process.

Thanks god i completed the process to step 6 and rebooted it and the kindle worked again and it went from 5.12.4 firmware to 5.10.3 firmware
Bit i didn’t get past that
I don’t know how to put the jailbreak file?
