Kindle firmware update 5.13.4

One of the books that is showing on my KU filter is still showing when browsing my regular library too. To be clear, I don't have this book downloaded on my device, it's cheesy cover is just haunting me. Since it's part of a series, I click on it and it says series information, says number of series, but says no books in the series downloaded. It will not let me delete this book since it's not downloaded in the first place, and says not downloaded, but it won't leave either.

One aspect of this update I don't like ---- you can no longer click on the little dots on a book to quick access information about it or add to a collection from the library browsing -- if it's part of a series, your only option is to open the series page by clicking on the book, and then you can click on those books and access information on the book, add to collection, etc.. I preferred before without having to open a new page and then go back .Makes collection adding more annoying than it already was due to this.

Does this still happen if you turn off the series stuff in the settings? With all of the issues you're having, it seems like the negatives of the series gouping feature definitely outweigh the positives for you. I definitely won't be turning it on, as I buy books from multiple stores, and it would drive me crazy to have them all jumbled like what you're describing.

Have you tried deleting the book folder and related files from your kindle documents folder directly using a PC via USB? You can delete the book download, but the other history files usually remain on the device.

The series grouping feature is now also available in the Kindle for Android app.

Hopefully, Fire and iOS app will not be that long in having it as well. I never realized I’d appreciate this feature until it showed up for Kindle.

That said, I just updated Kindle for Android (it is now 8.37.0.100) and am not seeing series grouping feature.

That is the same version I am using. As with the new e-ink Kindle firmware it took a while after running the new Kindle for Android version before I got the popup telling me that the series grouping feature was active. And also like the Kindle firmware there is a new setting to turn grouping off if you don't want it.

Yes, I looked for the setting and it wasn’t there. But maybe it doesn’t show up until it goes ‘active’.

UPDATE: I force-closed the Kindle app and when I re-started it, Series Grouping showed up right away.

I have not thought to try this, but will look. It's odd because I don't have this book downloaded and it's been so long since I have, but I will look when I get a chance and see if there is some kind of empty folder for it later on the PC.

No, the dots work as normal if you turn the series feature off in the settings for the series books.

I had to turn off that feature, because it assumed that novels by the same author were a series - not!

Series grouping is now available in the latest version (6.38) of Kindle for iOS.

An ‘Experience improvement’, according to the update notes.

I am only seeing it on my iPhone (after force-close following update). So far not on either of my iPads, even after force-close. Perhaps will have to wait for yet another update for iPad?

Still not on Fire, which is odd, considering it should share a lot of code with the Android app, which has Series grouping.

Did anyone ever get the expanded homepage that was supposed to roll out with the update? I still have not, and it's been quite awhile. Mine is still the same.

I have always had this disabled, so I would not know how or if it had changed. But it’s odd that it is explicitly mentioned in What’s New and still hasn’t shown up, whereas Series Grouping is not explicitly mentioned and has.
