Kindle firmware update 5.13.4

I have just applied the filter for comics, of which I don't have many on here (3) total

It is now showing 2 pages -- six regular books, two of which are the returned KU books showing in KU filter, the purchased book that was showing in KU filter, one book I put there that actually belongs, 7 total books when it should have 3.

Samples filter is the only one which seems to be working correctly.

I believe these two ARE available on KU if you want to borrow them, but I purchased these instead (one is an author friend and I remember supporting her sale)
  
• I have tried resetting, changing from title to recent and back again, but no luck. Hopefully the bug doesn't last because it's annoying looking.

I am not seeing any of these issues with KU filter. You might try engaging customer support.

I have the same issue. You explained it a bit better than I tried in a earlier post of mine. Its not consistent so confusing. I put my currently borrowed KU titles in a collection called "reading". So when I filter by "KU" I get not the titles itself anymore, but that folder for those I borrowed. In addition I get series groups with books I don't even remember checking out via Ku its been so long. But only 6 of them. And I have read many KU books and had it many years so there would be more books that should have a series group. A lot more. So why those I don't know.

The other thing I find a bit confusing is that I see both a book cover on my kindle and the same again as the series group folder if its the first one. If that makes sense. So the cover shows up twice, once with a number in the bottom left, which is the series number owned and the other cover is just the book downloaded with a checkmark. In one case I downloaded all 4 books in the series as I just bought them. So I see all 4 book covers and an additional one that is the series group.

Its a bit less confusing when I change sort to list instead of covers, but then I cant see the covers and the series groups are only listed with the name of the series. Not a book title or even author. I read a lot of series and wouldn't have a clue at times which author that series is by.

I do hope they will fine tune a bit. I'll get used to whatever eventually and get back to reading in any case.

Seriously, I'm getting tired of these limited function feature updates that are tied completely to the Kindle ecosystem, yet are so convoluted that they are near worthless. Use of metadata would be the simplest way to implement the series feature. Many authors provide direct-download prequel or "in-between" books, most of which are not available on Amazon. There is no way to incorporate these books into the series collections under the current model. Same goes for covers. Why force a download of information that is readily available in the metadata or book file? No other excuse, other than to maintain control.

I'm sure if we two get it, some others will. It was absolutely fine before this series update. I don't know why it's picking these random books out of so many - like you I've borrowed tons over the years, so it's so random.

It wouldn't be so annoying if the three or so books this is glitching on weren't these godawful paranormal erotica romances I tried ages ago that have hideous covers. For some reason these are the ones Amazon is putting back in all my filters to haunt me with.

With the previous release there was issue with KU filter if you had Home View turned off. The workaround was to toggle it on, then turn it off again. Wonder if that would help here as well (toggle off if it is on, then back on).

I just tried that but no luck. Also tried to switch views from grid to list and back to grid again.

The collections showing in filtered tabs may be a new thing and not a bug. It shows the count on the Collection tab of the number of books that is in Kindle Unlimited in collection. Before it would just show me KU Books when I click filter by Kindle Unlimited, which I preferred. The collection thing probably isn't a glitch --- these non KU borrowed ones are though.

So funny cause the handful of series group books I get are like that too. I don't think I ever actually read those and there is probably a reason for it based on the covers

I have a feeling they'll fix some of these issues down the line. I also have another feeling that having large libraries, lots of collections, lots of series, long time subscriptions to KU, prime reading and KOLL are going to come back and haunt me.

With so much info they keep on what books was borrowed via KU, libraries, PR, KOLL, purchased, returned, etc, there are bound to be some hickups in the database.

Add to that that I am linked up with goodreads, ratings via kindle. Its been 12 years for me now with kindles and changes in cloud storage.

Well, I gave up on the Amazon cloud and its endless glitches years ago. Keeping everything in Calibre and sideloading is so much simpler and more painless. I'm probably not even going to bother updating my Kindles to this latest mess. The series feature wouldn't work for my sideloaded books anyway, nor do I care, tbh. I use my Kindles strictly for reading, not for any kind of library management.

To each their own, of course.

Oddly, I've discovered that series feature does work for sideloaded kfx books, but only if you've purchased those books for the Kindle before. This is even if those sideloaded books are converted epubs from a different store.

I would call that a bug and report it to Amazon.

Not in my case, but when I load into Calibre sometimes I change the covers and descriptions, so perhaps this is causing the issue.
