Question about kepubs
I have several books in my Calibre library. There are epub formats for them already in Calibre.

When I transfer them to my Libra they are not converted/xfered as Kobo Epub. Rather they show as still being epub.

When does coversion to Kepub happen? I thought it was when sending to device? I do not see an option on the calibre convert books drop down for kepub.

It's the extended Kobo driver, an option that's on by default, but can be turned off.

That's what I figured and it is on. Just not sure why some books do not convert.

Do those books pass epub check? I think an editor plug in option as well as maybe direct. I forget.

Thanks found it. I ran the check on the epub and report serveral errors. Interestingly enough I ran it on another epub book that did convert/xfer to the Libra as a kepub and reports the same types of errors.

Guess there is not a silver bullet so I will dig a bit.

Honestly, ePubCheck is overkill for a personal library. If the book passes the error checks built into the calibre editor, then it should be OK for a Kobo device. And as you can see, it didn't pick-up whatever the issue is that prevented this book from being transformed to a kepub and seen on the device.

Can you run calibre in debug mode, send the book and post the debug log? It's usually obvious from that why it hasn't worked. There are also options in the driver for what to do if the transformation to kepub doesn't work. The KoboTouchExtended driver has an option to silently ignore errors. If that is on, it will just send the epub.

One thing you can try is an epub-to-epub conversion before sending the book. This will usually clean up things and the extended driver should have no issues with it afterwards.

Other than that, we probably need to see the book. If it is legal to do so, please post it. Otherwise, we would need to see it.
