Goodreads edition/version select? (Hardcover/kindle)

Is there any way to make calibre's "Download Metadata" only fetch the Hardcover edition of a book? I managed to wipe the 'pages' column info from most of my library and now the 'count pages' plugin isn't working for a large chunk of them because it fetched metadata for the ebook or kindle version, rather than the hardback/paperback version which on goodreads doesn't show the total pages information.

I am having to go in manually and get the goodreads number for the hardback version for each individual one and it's going to take an age.

If I search for metadata, I even have the slow mode on to grab the 'highest rated' version, and that even sometimes picks the *lower rated* ebook/kindle version, rather than the main hardcover version from goodreads.

Any way to do the above?

Download metadata is usually biased by the ISBN value.
No or other format ISBN, will get other data

The Count Pages plugin will only retrieve the page count for the specific edition specified by the identifier you have. But, from my experience, all editions are as likely to have, or not have, the page count as any others.

That isn't how that option works. The plugin does a search and goes through the results. Without the "Scan multiple editions for title/author searches (slower)" turned on, it takes whatever edition is on the search result. It will take multiple books if there is more than one good match. With the option turned on, for each search match selected, it goes through the editions, skipping audio books, and finds the first five good matches to the title. The plugin then gets the details for all matches found.

After this, for the matches are passed back to calibre. That then does its selection and merging of results. I don't know exactly what rules it uses. There is also an option to display multiple matches rather than merging them. That should allow you to pick the exact edition.

Of course, all of the above assumes the plugin works properly. And the multiple editions part isn't working. It looks like the search page has changed its structure slightly and it isn't finding the other editions, so it is taking whichever edition the search returns. I'll fix it in the next few days.

You could maybe edit the add-on source to prioritize hardcovers.

Besides that, try and keymap 'G' with the Goodreads Sync add-on to "quickly" switch between editions: (it even shows if it has a page count)
