Tutorial Brand new PaperWhite 4 (2018) factory image JailBreaking

Hi everyone, I am new here. So kindly excuse if this is a wrong thread to submit my question.

I have Kindle PW4 with firmware 5.13.1. I have the entire serial port set-up. Can someone guide me to the right thread about jailbreaking with serial port method? I tried searching "5.13.1" on this site, but there were 0 results.
I am really confused and don't know what to do. Please help! Thanks.

Oh no. The post is more than 1.5 yrs old. Does that mean JB not possible currently?

Okaay...I'm a little confused. So if my kindle suddenly updates, I'm supposed to reapply the hotfix right (so that it will survive the next update, and also updates seems to kill all other packages)? I can reapply the hotfix in the consumer version of the kindle (i.e. putting the hotfix bin file into the root of kindle and then update the kindle)? Or do I have to be in the factory version to apply the hotfix?

PS:Sorry for asking a noob question, it's been a while since JB has happened for me.

I don't know anything about hotfix, but firmware updates always wipe out all packages that need jailbreak to run. I think the hotfix is to make sure that the jailbreak itself survives the update.

Erm, yes, I've heard that firmware updates wipes all packages. What I'm not sure of is how do I apply the hotfix after the the firmware update? Cos after update, I should already be on customer firmware. I'm not sure if the hotfix works on customer firmware.

Then again, if it was up-to-date to begin with, you don't need to bother with the hotfix ever again, you can just reinstall your actual stuff and be done with it.

Alright! Thanks for the clarification

I'll keep this in mind after getting my new PW4 JB'ed (my previous one's e-ink got so faded that it's difficult to see the words, and sadly, it's also over the warranty period....)
