Don't know if I should get an Oasis or not

I have been having software issues of a variety with mine since Feb 2019. I have reset, made forum posts, posted elsewhere, searched the internet, but this device seems kind of cursed. I was originally in love with my Paperwhite 3, but jumped on an upgrade to the Paperwhite 4 when it was released because Waterproofing was my #1 wishlist need. Unfortunately I never bonded with this one nearly as much because my device's screen clarity was much less the the PW3 I owned. The PW3 now has developed some lighting issues at the bottom of the screen. I don't want to spend money buying another Paperwhite that's a current release since they've been out a few years, so hoping I love the Oasis as much as I originally loved my Pw3.

If you can afford to wait, it might be worth your while to see if there are deals on the Oasis 3 come Prime Day. I think Amazon offered a $60 discount on it last year.

I'm too impatient and do not have prime on my account. I had thought of that, but not sure if it's a prime feature.

I have to disagree with the larger screen. I like it. I hae a 6.8" screen with my H2O and I do not want to go back to a 6" screen. The larger screen just feels better when reading.

I have the PW4, Voyage and Oasis 2. I like the Voyage the best of the three. It has the best contrast and the portability and screen size just work the best for me. It's the one I use the most and travels with me just about everywhere. The Oasis 2 is very nice but I rarely use it. The metal back is not very pleasing to touch to me. The page turn buttons are great, though. The PW4 is the worst kindle Amazon has put out, in my opinion. The contrast is terrible. Very, very bad. I deeply regret trading in my PW3 for it. Sigh. Oh well. Hoping that the PW5 has better contrast so I can punt this PW4 into the ocean and replace it.

Just having a look on Amazon US and the Kobo Libra and the Oasis 3. The Oasis 3 is $77.71 more expensive and not $77.71 better.

I had considered getting a Kobo, but ultimately decided not to for now. Nothing against the device, but I'm heavily immersed into the Amazon ecosystem, especially considering Kindle Unlimited, so think I would end up regretting making a Kobo my primary, pricier device for now.

FWIW, I loved my Voyage until I got my Oasis 2. I found I much preferred the bigger screen plus my older eyes appreciated the fact that I could change the display size so that I can read menus and even the tiny "minutes left in chapter" at the bottom without reading glasses.

When I got the Oasis 3 it became my favorite because of the warm light. That one lives on my bedside table since I do most of my reading at night. The Oasis 2 is my downstairs e-reader and the PW4 is for commuting and traveling ... not that I've been doing much of either in the past 3 months!

Thanks Elspeth, gives me something new to look forward to. I am curious if I can get used to the warm lighting, will try it. I have trouble falling asleep at night in general. I have never used buttons or a larger screen on e-ink so it will be three new experiences at least.
