ePUB fonts showing in Kindle but not Apple Books
If I had any hair, I would be tearing it out.

So I open up a ePUB with Clibre. Add fonts, the manifest updates, etc., and paste the required css. Save and open in KP3 and everything is fine - the fonts are shown.

Drag the ePUB to Apple Books and the custom fonts are lost.

Getting close to the point where I just post the book on Amazon and forget about Apple. But I know one of you experts will have the answer for me. In exchange for virtual whiskey vouchers, of course.

Does your ebook contain a com.apple.ibooks.display-options.xml file? A few years back, I seem to remember needing that when generating epub2 books. My notes mutter about needing to add "<meta property="ibooks:specified-fonts">true</meta>" for epub3 files.

Hope this is of some help.

Edit: Check the Apple Books Asset Guide 5.2.11 for the metadata for epub3 font embedding.

Kindle Previewer is running on your computer, which also contains the fonts, so it's not surprising that you see them. That doesn't mean they will be shown on my Fire tablet. And if they did, and if your choice is Comic Sans, I would return it for refund.
