I haven't encountered that bug, but I have noticed random epub ebooks in my collection have a tiny thumbnail. I was hoping it would be fixed in this update, but it wasn't.

That's been around for a very long time. They were added in 2.3 or 2.4 or thereabouts. The icon was on the bottom bar, but went to the top menu with the rebuild of the in book menus (4.17?). And the next version was moved to a button on the top bar.

That is probably a problem with the book. It probably puts a small image in the corner of the first page. And for epubs, the device renders the first page and uses that.

You're absolutely right. I just checked, and both books have a small cover image on the first page. Thanks for the input.

David, do you know how large an image (by pixels) is required to avoid the tiny thumb? I know that 400 x 600 is large enough.

All kepubs, including your personal sideloaded ones, have the chapter bar graph stats icon available.

Size doesn't matter. How it is put there does. If the code has a fixed pixel size, you get what you are seeing. If the CSS is autosizing, it will size to the screen.

If you are using calibre, my recommendation is to get it to update the cover and use the SVG cover. That will automatically size and centre.

After checking the technical data for the installation of firmware 4.21.15015 on the Kobo Glo, a grey bar appeared at the top of the screen covering half of the icons.

That looks like a badly seated screen flex cable? Or a broken substrate.

If you enlarge the image, you'll see in the upper right corner of the screen, it looks like the screen is broken.

Because of the synchronicity of the update and the appearance of this "bar", I was leaning towards a software problem.
But during the whole process of a new firmware installation, both at standstill and in standby, nothing seemed to have any effect.
So the hypothesis of a problem with the screen seems admissible.
