I've read some posts about using that image and I'd like to give it a try, as long as my device is bricked, I have nothing to lose

The challenge is how do you intend to write the image to the non removable flash chip on the device.

The images @davidfor supplies are normally written directly to an SD card placed in an SD reader/writer on your PC or Mac and then inserted into the SD holder on the Kobo.

And for the record, my issue was that you said "that image". That didn't scan right to know what you were asking for, or why. There are also a lot of misplaced image requests, so if there is any question about what is being asked for, I generally clarify it.

@PeterT: The Aura an boot from the external card, and apparently the Aura H2O image works. But, I have been hoping that someone would post full instructions on what they do. Especially if they have a way to update the internal storage. Or are they just running from the external card?
