Night mode Kobo H2O?

I am considering buying an H2O. I currently read on an iPad mini using Marvin as the reading app. I prefer reading in night mode, white text on a black background is this possible on the H2O?

Yes, it's possible. There is a patch for getting night mode. The patch replaces the "show adobe page numbers" toggle with "invert screen".

There's no need to patch on newer firmwares if you don't want to. Official inverted screen is still considered an experimental feature, but you can enable the advanced developer menu by typing devmodeon in the search bar and then enabling the feature there too. The patch makes toggling it on and off easier, though.

Be aware though that any time a screen refresh needs to be done it will flashbomb you with a full white screen.

Nightmode in Koreader allows you to turn the flashbomb off, or at least mitigate it to every 10th page turn (maybe more, or never).

The flash is also fairly quick and painless on the newer devices. I read at night in darkness with this enabled and the flashes aren’t annoying.

When reading you can set the refresh to happen every chapter if it bugs you

This can also be controlled in Kobo's experimental mode (as also mentioned by other members), by simply choosing 'Refresh the screen every' button for the number of pages you want.

I use this for every 6 pages and everything works beautifully.

I don’t think you need to patch or enable dev mode to set the refresh rate in the built in reader.
