And, planned obsolescence after six years? That's a lot longer planning than most tech companies seem to be doing.

I will change my television because it does not support the 4k resolution, but there is no technical improvement that motivates me to buy new ebook readers. Kobo has to make money? Of course. Let me buy books in your store with my kobo mini or maybe I will buy a device from another company.

Perhaps someone can reintroduce a patch to not require contact with Kobo servers, to keep these abandoned devices working? (Something Kobo could have done with this last "update".) For the nervous out there, there can be life without access to the Kobo servers. I haven't had contact with them from my Aura HD since I first got it. I have reset the device a couple of times, as well. Luck; Ken |

Unfortunately my interest in buying books from Kobo is just about zero. I get a free ebook each month from them courtesy of a publication I subscribe to (from a selection of 4). Apart from that I haven't bought anything from them for a long time. I have a Kobo Glo HD and an H20 (1st gen). The H20 is a beautiful device but I find myself seldom using it. I've decided I like the size of the 6" readers, and read on my 1st Generation Oasis or the Glo HD. The first for Amazon purchases and library books, the latter for epub library books, my free Kobo books and other sideloaded epub content. I don't find any of Kobo's current range attractive and would not buy another Kobo right now.
