There's clearly something going on, according to my google wifi, it's using 1 mbps of bandwidth for no apparent reason.

Version 5.10.2 is now officially out for PW3 / Gen 7. It can be downloaded from Amazon's Gen 7 software site:

Glad to hear that. I don't even own a Paperwhite 3, but it bothered me that it lagged behind the other devices. (Yeah, I worry about stupid things.)

Funnily enough, it appears to be the exact same build as before (at the very least it matches the one used on the KT2, Voyage & PW2).

I doubt it given that the PW2 is 2 generations of its device older than latest and still getting updated.

The PW2 is based on the same HW platform than every other devices after it, except for the Oasis 2 & PW4, so, it's essentially "free" to support for as long as the rest of them

Given that the PW3 was the current HW revision of the paperwhite less than 6 months ago, I doubt that support was ended.

EDITED TO ADD: I think that there was just a bug that prevented the release of 5.10.2 for the PW3 for a while. No more, no less.

One "change" that I don't like is the scroll up/down on the Kindle Fire. I preferred the right/left scroll to read books on it.

Version 5.10.2 has finally realesed in Amazon.it too. I desperately wish to get out of a sea of bugs that afflict my PW3 since version 5.10.1.1

There is a new DRM scheme used for KFX format in version 5.10.2. This only impacts those who import books from their device to calibre over a USB connection.

This will not impact you if you do not import your Kindle books into calibre or import them using another method, such as downloading them directly from Amazon's website.

Yes, I usually convert my past purchased (and not) Epub files to azw3 or, more recently, to kfx :-)
And I get my Amazon originals directly from the cloud.
So, what you say is that from now on, it is impossible to remove DRM from kfx books in order to convert them?

Yes, currently you cannot convert books delivered by Amazon in KFX format if you are running the latest e-ink Kindle firmware or latest version of Kindle for PC/Mac.

You have an option to turn it off in the font settings. Just turn off "continuous scrolling" and you'll be able to go back to reading like you used to.

Also my kindle basic (previous generation) just updated wirelessly to 5.10.2. At first the update option in the setting menu was greyed out but after plugging in to charge and syncing, the update started immediately.
