B&N removed download option on all books in "My Nook" library

Anyone have an idea what else I could try? I don't have an iDevice and my Android one isn't rooted.

Sorry, should've tested first - now downloaded an old copy of Nook for PC and THAT ONE still works! Yay!! Downloaded my test books (that were still in my account), liberated it with Calibre and am off to read it now.

My trick to get Nook Study to log-on.

You can try to trick Nook Study by

• entering you account information
• press enter
• then while it is logging on close the program--do not let it time out
• if it asks do you really want to close, closing will prevent syncing etc,etc,
• click yes close.
• Now reopen the program and see if you are logged in.

Nope. Still happy with Win7.

And using the Nook for PC on 7 is great: it just dumps the books in a B&N folder inside your Documents folder.

Just a heads up, looks like B&N are updating their firmware (they are stopping support for Nook 1st edition and all other Nooks have a firmware update to install) and system to use TLS 1.2 and I suspect the Nook for PC will stop working after June 29th. I hope we can find another method to download our books.

If you haven't downloaded all of your books yet, I suggest you do so before the 29th.

There's the Nook app in the Windows store if you're running Windows 8 or 10.

For at least the last year or so, I've been using the NOOK app for Android. I use ADB to retrieve the books and then import them into Calibre. Recent versions of the app require you to have root access to retrieve the books.

If you don't have a rooted Android device, the NOOK app runs fine on Android x86, either in a VirtualBox virtual machine or booted from a USB stick.

I have version 7.1-r1 installed to a 16GB USB 3.0 thumb drive, but I've found that the older version 5.1-rc1 runs better in a virtual machine.

Getting it up and running is pretty straightforward, but for me there was some trial-and-error involved. I can post instructions for getting it working, but if nobody else is interested in this particular method, I won't bother.

ZodWallop If Nook for PC does stop working on the 29th, I imagine I will go to the darkside [aka Amazon] or return to paper books. I could still read my B&N books on my iPad, but I like being able to have backups of my books if...when...B&N goes out of business. I still have a grudge against them for stopping me from reading I book I bought on my PC when it was only available to be read on a PC. I ended up buying a copy from Amazon.
