Navigate to this webpage. There are actually two editions of the aforementioned ebook (I am assuming that--there are two entries for the ebook, and the PDFs that get downloaded have two different file names); I don't know which one, if either, is the same edition as at Amazon.

I am a big believer in Open Access. If you like to get bargain ebooks, search for OA's. It is the best source of ebook bargains that I know of right now.

All 3 volumes (Kindle) of the "Yesteryear Gazette: Amazing Stories From the Pages of Vintage American Newspapers" are currently free (I think they're usually $1.99 each). I had one of the volumes on my Amazon wishlist planning to pick it up if I rejoin Prime and pick up a few no-rush credits so I thought they looked interesting. Each volume has "twenty of the most compelling, moving, humorous and quirky stories from this treasure trove of American newspapers" culled from the Library of Congress digitized newspaper collection. Volumes are between appx. 160 & 190 pages each. Will probably only last for a day or so.

Conquest: Cortes, Montezuma, and the Fall of Old Mexico by Hugh Thomas has dropped to $6.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. Not a great price, but not horrible either for non-fiction, and for that you get a really long book . More seriously, I read this in DTB on a vacation to Mexico many years ago, and really enjoyed it. In the US, at least, we tend to barely learn just the basics (Cortez came, he saw, he conquered), and it was nice to learn a lot more about that period of history. I find I don't remember quite as much of the history as I wish now, though, and I have another trip to Mexico coming up in the fall, so I may bite on this one...and it'll be easier to carry on my phone than the original book was .

Cocaine has a unique place in the history of illegal recreational drugs. Remaining near the top of the list of drugs governments have vowed to eliminate, cocaine has kept its street credibility and underground status as the champagne drug, associated in many people's minds with a high-living, high-rolling lifestyle.

Production of cocaine from coca leaves is increasing. Prices are steady. The mass media treat its recreational use by the rich and famous as more of a naughty prank than a potentially deadly vice. The coca plant is still legally chewed by millions of South Americans, producing a mild high akin to that of caffeine. More famously, coca extract remains a core ingredient of Coca-Cola, albeit with the cocaine content now removed.
