This is just in, after 2.5 years, one of the most requested feature for the Kindle app for the iPad is now here. Kindle app now supports split view. You can now read your ebook and use another app, like a web browser, a note taking app or a pdf reader at the same time.

Amazon. I have been abandoning kindle books because of the lack of split view. Now I am coming back

Yes, I’ve been waiting for this feature for awhile.

Slide Over is also available (if the other app does not support Split View, or on some older iPads that do not support Split View).

I wish it was possible to determine which apps support Split View without trial and error (e.g. some superimposed icon that appears when Dock is overlaid, when browsing App Store etc.).

Also there is now Continuous Scrolling mode — though it is a very basic implementation at present (needs ability to annotate, Speak Screen support, more efficient navigation).

My #1 feature request at this point is for them to add keyboard shortcuts/navigation. I often have external keyboard hooked up and it would be nice to be able to turn pages with cursor keys or using one of those smaller thingies that let you page through a slide deck or photo album. They can start with doing everything iBooks does with keyboards and go from there.

Could someone who has iDevices and the latest Kindle app try if continuous scrolling work with Manga/comics as well?

I grabbed a free Manga, but there is no Aa button so no way to turn on Scroll. I've never looked at a Manga book before, do they not have the regular font menu?

I was glad to see the Scroll option, but the one book I wanted that feature for, a study Bible, doesn't have scrolling enabled. The same book scrolls fine in iBooks, but I prefer the Kindle margin and line spacing control. But no joy, if I want to Scroll, I have to use iBooks for that bible.

You are right. On Kindle for android there is no Aa button too..

There is Aa button on e-ink kindle though. You can do few things like trim out white border or changing view layout.

Scrolling text would be a dream come true for me as when I would read in bed, I would put my tablet on top of my belly in portrait orientation and my eye would look only the top part of the screen. Right now I have to either move my eye downward or lift up the tablet.

The scrolling option in the Kindle for iOS app is only available for non-fixed layout books in KFX format. It also doesn't work for Kindle in Motion books, which are a hybrid of reflowing text with fixed layout images.

It should work for books purchased from Amazon that show "Enhanced Typesetting" available on their product page or for books you sideload in KFX format.

This Bible is shown as having the advanced type setting, but no scroll option. It's not a huge deal, but would have been nice. I'll have to dink around with another reader app and see if I can find one I prefer that offers scroll. It's been a while since I looked at the other apps.

I am not going to purchase the book for a full test, but I tried the free sample of it on my iPad and continuous scrolling works for that.

It is hard to tell why it isn't working for you. Perhaps there is a difference between the full book and the sample. Another possibility is that the book was updated for enhanced typesetting some time after you purchased it, if you purchased that book a while ago.

If it still doesn't work after updating there is a chance that the book is simply too long - possibly not enough room for the buffer?
