Was it looking particularly depressed? (n.b.: one of the very few prepared things that I still love--love--is pot pie. I have endeavored numerous times to emulate that perfect creamy lovely sauce and the flaky crust. I've gotten the crust right--that's not hard--but that sauce? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....) MERRY CHRISTMAS, folks! Hitch |

Even though I wasn't going anywhere today, decided to start my car up anyway since it's been 20 below zero almost all day. Oh, and it didn't want to start 2 weeks ago when it got barely below zero. Battery is less than 2 years old. They didn't seem very concerned at the repair shop either so I never did take it back to have them look at it again. So, of course, it doesn't want to start today. Had to jumpstart it again. I'm sure I'll have to in the morning as well since it's already 20 below again. This time, it's staying at the repair shop and I'll just take a loaner until they can either fix the problem or replace the battery. |

I replaced a less than 2 year old battery when my car wouldn't start .... and then replaced the alternator a week later ...

I just hate it when they look and me and ask, am I sure I didn't leave anything on that'd drain the battery? Really? Like I hadn't thought of that myself.

Luckily todays meal was with friends, so they cooked the turkey. Although a table with multiple pies did collapse at the bakers house, resulting in the destruction of the only pecan pie, a pumpkin pie, and some homemade soup.

Funny enough, we just had this happen. Turns out it was a bad cell in the battery that was only bad intermittently. Sometimes it would start with no issues, other times we were having to jump start it. But it would check as good. And the battery was only a couple years old. So we ended up buying a new battery. All fixed now. But we have had batteries act exactly the same and it be the alternator. Batteries are weird. S |

[RANT!!!!] OK, I know that any given skein of yarn can have a break in it. But NINE (9!!) PIECES! Some as short as a few metres, others up to 20 metres, and only two pieces of usable length? That's just cheating! If I'd bought this skein as a second? No complaints. But this was NOT a second, it was very expensive, undyed, aran weight, Blue-faced Leicester. [/RANT] Worst was, of course, this is a jumper (sweater) being knit out of my stash, and the actual yarn was bought at least 10 years ago. No chance of replacement or recovery. |
