The recipe system doesn't really have a way of inserting new content into feeds. Why do you want this functionality in any case?

So is there other way I could add the link? I'm happy to hear other suggestions, as I just got the kindle yesterday and I'm trying to make it as easy as possible to update news/blogs on it without fees. I know I'm cheap...

calibre will get support for emailing content to the kindle at which time you will be able to have it automatically email newly downloaded news to your Kindle.

that's cool. But I'm pretty sure that it's going to be fee based, because amazon charges a small fee for any attachment emailed directly to the kindle. That can add up quickly if there're a lot of contents to be emailed daily.

No one has ever been charged anything for their emails to their kindle account. The 10 cent fee has never been implemented.

that's good to know. But it is not something I would like to rely on. They said they would charge for the service and we had agreed to pay, I wouldn't be surprised that one of those days someone gets a large bill from amazon.

ah, I got a solution. since Calibre can take several feeds for any recipe, i just wrote a tiny XHTML which reside on my computer(my content server) and contains only an "update" link, which points to the newest news/feed/blog's MOBI file, then added it to the top of the feed list. works great and now I can transfer & update everything easily & wirelessly from anywhere! anyone who's interested can try it. |

I have been trying various hacks to get the content server working and have partially succeeded. It was really hard work. The basic thought is to use a proxy server that can handle AJAX. After a lot of search and trial and error I went with http://www.internetbypass.com/ some screen shots attached. The only problem is that the book download links dont work some observations about the book download-
I Need help. Almost got it working . When I get then working I will post a proper tutorial for not tech users. Last edited by rollercoaster; 05-03-2010 at 02:26 AM. |

There is a non Ajax version of the page you can use with your Kindle at /mobile This was designed specifically for the Kindle, so it should work. |

@kovid thanks very much. turns out calibre detects the user agent and serves the mobile version even if we dont use /mobile I feel silly but i am conjuring up a tutorial for the common user to use this feature productively. sp with kindle and its limitation on ports in url. may be kindle v2.5 will support that |
