Amazon v. Google: soon no YouTube on Fire TV
The feud is heating up. Amazon will not allow sales of Google products. Now Amazon is dumping YouTube on some devices.

Edit: I meant and of course should have stated that Google will not be supporting YouTube on some Amazon devices. I apologize for the error.

I thought YouTube already wasn't on FireTV (if you understand what I mean). I know it isn't available through the Amazon App Store on my Fire tablet.

Prime Video only showed up in the Play Store recently.

I'm not a fan or a hater of either of them, but in the end, I feel for Google on this one. Amazon's Fire OS is just a Google-less Android and they had that underhanded Amazon App store on Android for a while.

As for Chromecast or FireTV, seems you are better off with a third party Roku or something like that. I use a Samsung Blu-Ray player that has access to YouTube and Amazon Video.

Do not accuse Amazon of doing something they had no control over.
If Google wants to pull their apps they can. If Ebay doesn't want to update their apps, that is their choice.

Yet, I have seen people blame Amazon for both.

Let's blame the wrong person. because my little girl would never do anything wrong.

It's not Google's app. Amazon created their own Youtube app which is basically just an app that opens the "lean back" TV friendly version of the Youtube website in a self contained browser.

To be fair, you quoted the OP, not the article. The article clearly says: Google is pulling YouTube off the Fire TV and Echo Show as feud with Amazon grows

And as I mentioned, Amazon at least started the shady shenanigans.

Some of the users on the Amazon forums are reporting that accessing YouTube via a browser on the Fire TV is working for them. So at least it's a work-around.

I must be odd...I hardly ever use YouTube.

I just got a New Smart TV... with Tons of Apps Except Amazon! I have 2 older BR Player that has the Amazon App But the New ones don't. Amazon keeps shooting its self in the foot soon they wont have a leg to stand on. I my self am getting Away from Amazon. Fire Phone died few months ago. Once I sell the 10" Tablet & the PW3 I am Done with their products. Not worth the headaches. At least on my new Tablet I can still DL the Apps maybe. Had to redo my PC back to Factory Now I cant get the Amazon App on it sucks!

Yes. As I mentioned in my earlier post, Amazon tried to backdoor their own app store on to Android. That was years ago. Here's an article from 2014 that talks about it. And here's another.

Amazon also just swiped Android, pulled Google from it and rebranded it Fire OS. Why do you think it is so easy to add Google to Fire tablets?

I don't have issues with Amazon. I buy books and random crap from them and I could live with a Kindle. But I don't feel the need to defend them when they do crappy things. They are corporations that are useful to me. Not friends or enemies.

Cindy I Own a Lot of things on Amazon.... Movies Aubile e-books Music .... I Don't Plan to Walk away from them. I just don't Plan to Buy More!

As for the phone the S5 Face fell OFF 3 weeks after I got it .... Returned to the 3rd party seller [yep Amazon again ] got my money back But yet to hear from the others stuff I got for that phone...refunds are Long over due

Went to T-Mobile got another phone 11 days ago so far so good. At least I can return it to my T-Mobile store!

I been Ripped off Twice by Amazon.... No recourse 1 was a SD card was suppose to be 128 gig NOT only 32 gig they refused to take it back tho was honest mistake since it is Marked by Manufacture 128 gig. $50 bucks down the drain! The other was ebooks Marked Part 1 & 2 when the 3rd book came out a month later it Contains ALL 3 e-books! So lost $6 from Amazon on that deal. Just Sick of loosing money that I cant afford to lose.

My trust from Amazon is ZERO! Customer Service Stinks....

O got one of my WL ebooks last night Still Trying to get it on the PW so I can read it! Lost in Space!

“Swiped” is a loaded word—did Google “swipe” Linux to make Android in the first place? It's open-source and copyleft. Reusing it is not just allowed but explicitly encouraged.

Google was allowed (happily) to leverage Linux into a multi-billion dollar product. They benefited greatly from the work countless others did in the process. The quid pro quo for using that code—well known going into things—is that others can, in turn, freely use (and modify, sell, distribute, etc) the parts of Android that are derived works of Linux.

Yes, I do understand copyleft and forking Linux. There's a reason Amazon wasn't sued for Fire OS. I guess it just felt like a one/two punch when coupled with the app store debacle.
