I can’t seem to download it from a computer. My work computer has a firewall that blocks the kindle and the one at home is currently kaput. Can I download it through the “experimental web browser”? The kindle support people are useless.

Nope. No way to download it from the "Experimental Web Browser".

Just connect your Kindle to Wi-Fi, connect it to charger and wait until it updates.

Let's see. If you know someone in IT where you work you can ask them to download it to a thumb drive. Where I live we have Internet Cafe's with computers you can rent by the half-hour. I'd go there and download the file. Take the cable to connect your Kindle to the computer. Or, in the library they have computers you can use for free. You can get in line behind the folks from the shelter and download and install the file.

It is already localized in several versions of English and in French.
What else do Canadians use that would require a special version?

The font features are in the update.

But I would assume ‘never’ on Inverted Black and White. The new Oasis has a newer graphics chip and IBAW may be a feature that’s built into that. If it were simple to back port the feature, I would assume we’d have it now.

Hope the assumption is wrong, but they only sure way to get the feature is to get the new Oasis.

Can you describe the symptoms of the problem? You copy the update file onto your Kindle and then... what happens?

Goodreads integration is only available in certain countries. It makes answering questions like this so much easier if people take the trouble to fill in the "Location" field in their profile - many things do vary by country, and it's very helpful to know what country a person is in.

It's not the language, it's the account. As far as I know, the Goodreads integration only works with a Amazon US account (and maybe the UK?). It definitely doesn't work in either Italy or Japan, the only other countries I have experience of.

Hence the thread Make Location Mandatory in Feedback. Please try to convince the rest of the staff that location should be mandatory when registering.
