Good deals on these Laymon books! The samples aren't grabbing me though. Tell me they get better as you go along. I like the sound of some of the plots.

Layman is a schlockmeister. No guarantee that the books will be better than the sample you tried.

The books are cheap enough. I suggest purchasing one and giving it a whirl. They are fairly quick reads. I'd recommend In The Dark, which can be had for a buck fifty.

In a similar vein to Robert Aickman, Thomas Ligotti and Shirley Jackson, Jon Padgett's The Secret to Ventriloquism is $2.99 at Amazon. I haven't read the book yet and don't know if $2.99 is standard or a sale. But the stories sounds promising and the reviews are good.

Fear by L. Ron Hubbard is $1.99 at Amazon. I've read it and just didn't care for it at all. I think Hubbard's a hack. But, in spite of that glowing praise, some people consider Fear to be a classic.
