What I get is the option to remove the tile for the leftmost book tile on occasion. The other 3 book tiles never offer this option and after I remove the left book tile, the remove tile option disappears for a while. I've been playing with it to see if I can find a pattern but so far no joy.

That's unfortunate. It's the middle right area (currently a selected author) which I would like to have some control over.

Weird. I have the remove option on all books all the time. Maybe library books or previews are different.

The other thing I noticed with this is that the removed books don't come back. I assumed it would be like the tiled home screen and reopening a book would put it back on the home screen. I'm not sure if I like that as if I am reading an omnibus, I usually take a break between books and this will occupy a spot on the home screen when I don't want it, or it won't come back when I restart. Of course, it won't be hard to solve the problem with a little database hacking.

Just tried a factory reset and reloaded all books. I don't have the remove from desktop option on any of the books now (1 each of Overdrive library loan, purchased from Kobo, sideloaded and preview from an expired library book). If it wasn't for a screenshot, I'd think I was hallucinating the whole thing.

Edit: Did another factory reset back to 4.1.7729, skipped the update, copied ~200 books over, processed, updated metadata, added the extra bits to the .conf file, updated to 4.4.9298 and the remove from desktop item is now visible when I hit remove for all 4 types. Now to copy the other 2K+ books over and see if all still works.

Hmmm.... We don't believe in miracles, we just depend on them.
