I double checked the eBook and there's nothing wrong there. But anyway, I've updated to 4.3.8945 and searching in ePub now works. So whatever the problem was, it's solved.

I just flipped through about 50 pages with light set to 1%, I've put the device to sleep, woke it up and I can't see any issues.
I'm currently on 4.3.8945 firmware after two-step update over the wifi.
I had to factory-reset my h2o after first attempt to upgrade the firmware, because it failed to boot up though. Maybe that's a factor.

Open the light control. Set the light to anything above 1%. Tap the left end of the slider to set it to zero. Watch the light level for about 10 seconds.

Oh OK I see it now. Thanks for clarifying. But that's not even annoyance as far as I'm concerned.

The light bounce is more of an annoyance than the broken stats as I don't bother with the stats.

Search is still not properly working in the new firmware. This is with the firmware not patched.

Do you mean that it searching in another book works and returning to the first book it works there as well? But, restarting and trying the same book, search doesn't work.

Considering how many times I've used search in the a the last few days, I have to disagree with you. Of course, I can only guess which search you are talking about based on the recent posts. Because I'm assuming you mean the in-book search, and not searching for a book in your library, or the dictionary or the annotations, or even a book in the shop. Of course, as you have already said that search does work, then you must be meaning a different type of search.

Please, be specific, describe what is actually happening and give examples. That's the only way the rest of us can work out what's going on.

With the book I am reading, I do an in-book search. I type in the search word(s) and then I get the results shown. I then click the one I want and I am taken back to the page I was at. When I tap one of the arrows at the bottom of the screen, the number changes, but I stay at the same page.

Thank you for the detail. I'm sure it will be fixed soon because I'm sure the report you made to Kobo for the bug included even more detail.

Having said that, I can reproduce the problem with tapping "Go". Most of my searches are started by selecting a word in the text, so that is why I didn't see it. I can't reproduce any of the other problems. Navigating between the matches works perfectly in the books I tried (including one with over 6000 pages). If it doesn't work for a particular book, then it's probably something about that book. Does everything else work for the book? Annotation, ToC etc. Maybe one of those errors calibre is showing is actually important. Are you sure the version on the device is the same as the one in calibre? Or have you changed it and resent it to the device? In any case, without seeing the book that it doesn't work for, I can't really guess. But, I'm sure you have supplied both a working and a non-working sample to Kobo so they can see what is wrong.

I think I'm done with trying new firmware. This firmware works for the most part on the original Aura, but I'm still unreasonably bothered by the fact that the two-finger light adjustment is not 100% reliable. It's better than previous firmwares (post 3.12.1), but I would say it's about 80% reliable. The other 20% of the time, it fails to respond, fails to respond quickly, or it highlights a word and opens the dictionary instead of adjusting the brightness. 3.12.1 is still the gold standard for this feature as far as I'm concerned because it works instantly and works 100% of the time. I have never had a problem adjusting the light in 3.12.1, and now that I've finally discovered the wonderful world of patching I've been able to customize the firmware to my liking, and now I have no inclination to try any other firmware.

So that's that.
