The app finding thread

This is a thread for people like me who are looking for an app with a specific intent. I'll start: I am looking for an app to keep track of hours spent on something per day. Ease of use and small size would be priorities. I'm using a little calendar book right now but it's like to eliminate extra stuff I don't need to haul around. |

Well, yeah, but *some* requests might be for iPhone apps ..... Not if the thread is in the Android forum, and never seen, though. |

Can anyone recommend an app for text messages that doesn't combine messages into conversations? I recently switched from an old flip phone to a smartphone, and it drives me crazy that if I go to send a new text to a contact, it shows a bunch of other texts I exchanged with that person a couple weeks ago on a completely different subject. |

Textra SMS has a setting that allows you to set the number of messages to keep in a conversation. By default, it keeps ALL messages, but you can set it as low as 25 messages. I don't know if 25 is too many for you. If each time you text you and the other party send three or four messages back and forth, 25 messages might be your last three or four texting sessions. Note: in Textra, you can set the number of message to keep at 25 minimum for SMS and at 2 minimum for MMS. Last edited by Moe The Cat; 03-07-2017 at 05:00 PM. Reason: Added MMS info

I've found plenty of reviews/articles like "best 5 apps for texting" but the articles all talk about fancy features of the app which I have no interest in. Haven't found any articles yet that mention whether you can turn off conversations.

The most annoying thing about this app for me is that it will only display my contact list by first name (I like them sorted by last name). As I recall, on my old flip phone I had entered all my contacts names backwards so that they would show up last name first. Haven't bothered to do that on my current smartphone because it's fairly easy to find a name by either typing the first letter or two of the contact's first name into the search box.
