Aura KA1 current version?

All the discussion about firmware versions leads to the question of "what is the currently Kobo released version for the KA1? 4.2.8432 right?

It's 4.3.8842 released in the last couple of days.

Okay, if 4.3.8842 is the current Kobo released KA1 version, this leads to an important question.

There seems to be quite a few messages here referring to problems with this release.

Should a VERY conservative (and happy) KA1 user update? Or should he stick with 4.2.8432?

Your thoughts?

Please remove the link and post your reasons here. The problem is that if someone clicks your link, then the last read position gets lost and it's then a matter of trying to find the last read message.

I always open such links in new tab with right button mouse click, center button mouse click or control left mouse button. This maintains last reading position. If I just click on the link and read that web page back arrow returns to original forum web page and maintains forum position.

John, I don't have any way to go back to a prior version as I don't have (or want) the Kobo app.

You don't need the Kobo app to go back to a prior version. Download the version you want from the links here:

For the Aura One, you will want the Mark 6 version.

To install it, follow the installation instructions here, starting at step 2 (since you already have the zip file):

l, thanks. I remember there is some reason I can't go back to a prior version...maybe it's because I don't have the Kobo desk top software.

I'll probably just wait and let the latest version "mellow" and observed folks' reports on how it works before I sync it.

That would probably make sense, as it has issues on some devices. But to clarify, you don't need the Kobo Desktop to go back to a previous version of the firmware. All you need is a computer and a micro-USB cable to connect your Kobo to the computer.

I don't sync the firmware. I don't have Kobo desktop installed. I install firmware manually. It works no bother.

I sync to kobo.com by wifi but to a dummy account so that no books are synced.

I wish I could remember why I can't regress to a prior version.
