If I make any changes to this font, I would like to be able to update it myself. Otherwise, I would have to always ask for it to be updated and that would mean yet another version released.

If we do get the option to use our own choice of fonts, I'll have a go at making a version of ChareInk that's suitable for LCD meaning I'll check the weight and see if I should maybe lower the weight.

 Editing Cover in MapleRead SE?

I have a book in Calibrč that had a generic cover. I found a JPG of the real cover and edited the book to have the real cover. However, when I uploaded the book to SE, only the generic cover appears. Is it possible to use the metadata edit function in SE to add the correct cover? If so, is there a particular order of steps to follow to do this? If not, any suggestions on how to get the book fixed in Calibrč?

In calibre, select Path > "Click to open" and make sure that "cover.jpg" is the cover that you want. Still in calibre, go to the "Modify ePub" tab and have nothing selected except "Insert or replace cover". Click ok. The cover you want will be embedded into the ePub. In MapleRead, you will probably have to delete the book with the wrong cover and then add the book from calibre with the correct cover. Again, I'm not a MapleRead user, so do what you normally do.

Marty, I don't find a "Modify ePub" in Calibrč. I have an "Edit Metadata" Menu and when I open it, it shows the cover I want.

Hi romad, I've been using "Modify ePub" so long that I had forgotten it is a calibre plugin. If you are not familiar with the wonderful world of plugins, you are about to get a mini-lesson. Seriously, I use several plugins and they really enhance calibre functionality. - From the main calibre screen, select "Preferences". - Near the bottom of the next screen, select "Plugins". - At bottom of next screen, select "Get new plugins". - Next screen upper left select filter "Not Installed" and in upper right enter filter "Modify ePub". - The "Modify ePub" plugin should appear and be highlighted. Click "Install" in lower right. You'll get a security warning, click "Yes". - The Main Toolbar is a good place to install the plugin. There may be easier ways to install plugins, but the above walks you through a step-by-step process that works. Once you have the "Modify ePub" plugin, proceed as I indicated in my first post. Holler back if you hit a bump installing and/or using the plugin. |

Thanks, Marty. Yes, I've installed a couple of plug-ins before, so hopefully this one will work for me. EDIT: Yep, it worked! Thanks again, Marty! Last edited by romad; 01-21-2017 at 04:26 PM. |

In any Library view, open the Metadata page of the book (long press and tap Get Info). Tap Edit, then tap Cover Image. Choose something like "BookBookSearch" (1 out of the 5 options). Long Press on the cover image you like and tap "Save Image". Tap "Save". Done! Is this what you asked for in the first place?

Hi cedhax, Just wondering, since I'm not familiar with MapleRead: Is the cover actually changed in the ePub itself or just in MapleRead. In other words, if you move the ePub to another eReader app, will the new cover be displayed? I see a lot of praise for MapleRead and might have to get my feet wet and try it ... Thanks, Marty |

I have noticed a bug in the sorting of books. When you choose to sort by author, MR sorts authors alphabetically (as desired) but sorts all the authors that start with a capital letter alphabetically followed by all the un-capitalized authors alphabetically. Ie: A, B, C,......Z, a, b, c,.....z Yes, I know authors should be capitalized, but many fanfic authors do not capitalize their names. |
