I guess the only risk would be that it's blacklisted and you can't add it to your Amazon account.

Ah man, I will be screwed. The only way I ever could figure out how to do it was with K4PC. I have no clue how else to do it, even after reading the mumbo jumbo on that site. And that took a while to figure out. And I have kindles but still no clue how to without the K4PC. Sigh. This is very disappointing for me. I guess I'll be reading more and more library books then and keep KU. I don't feel comfortable buying books without being able to back them up. Especially after the All Romance disaster. If one can't back them up properly, there is nothing to protect anyone from losing all the books. |

No idea. You're buying from individual Goodwill stores so??? The few times I needed help from eBay on a purchase I found their help to be a joke.

Make sure and check that checkmark. I know for sure that I had mine set not to automatically renew. I always make very very sure its not checked for those reasons. Last time there was an update I didn't until someone here said it was ok. Then I unchecked the box right away. That was October 6th/7th. Now on both of my computers the box was checked. I caught it in time. But it won't help me in the long run. I tried the download to computer with usb thingy using one of my older kindles, but that file can't be open it still has drm. So as I thought, I have no clue how to do it outside of the program. Now just depends on how long they let me keep this version. |

Since I only need the SN, they don't need to ship the device saving money.

This gives me non-kfx for my Paperwhite 2 (which will download kfx directly). Since kfx is a actually a multi-file format, I would expect the "transfer via usb" would stick with kf8. But you never know if they might shut down that method.

Read carefully and assume you're on your own. But if you just need an old Kindle to use it's serial number, this is probably the way to go. Again -- I've never been disappointed.
