Yes its even hard to buy a Kobo .... Kinda stuck with either Nooks which I cant stand. Or Amazon which I cant play my VUDU Movies on

But, it is trivial to get a Kobo via mail order. I got my H2O from Chapters.

The point being that since Kobo readers aren't readily available in the United States, finding a cover in stock at a brick and mortar store is rarer than hen's teeth.

Your only options are likely to be buying a generic tablet case (which I wouldn't recommend) or buying online (which she seems to be dissatisfied with).

I ordered my case from Amazon and I like it. This is the same brand and is the version for the Aura. It's prime compatible and comes in a number of different designs. I highly recommend this one.

As for ordering online, that's the only choice in order to get a proper case that's not some generic case with those awful corner straps.

I'd find that really annoying. That flap at the right side is just in the way.

I did order a similar case for my H2O and it did make it bulkier than the case I mentioned. I didn't send it back because of that. I sent it back because the magnets where not lined up and it would not properly close.
