What happens when the bulb burns out? Or the cat knocks it over and smashes it?

Just kidding. I've got two cats and they both stay in near constant trouble! Both love to chew on iPhone charging cables. They never developed a taste for normal, less expensive USB charging cables, just the pricey iPhone cables. Thankfully they don't chew on electrical cables or they would likely use up all nine lives in a hurry.

Seriously, that lamp looks a lot more fragile than one of the Echo devices. Forget blaming the cats; I could see myself knocking it over.
Secondly, that lamp would absolutely not fit in with decor that isn't fairly modern. In my home, it would be completely out of place--I need something with a lampshade. And third--talking to a lamp? I feel silly enough talking to a Dot! |

Probably already mentioned in this long thread somewhere, but I just learned that you can say "Alexa play white noise" and she will play the sound of a natural river flowing. Pretty cool.
ETA: It actually plays Natural White Noise: Mountain River by Mute Button. The track/album is only 1:14:00 long, so be sure to click the Loop button otherwise it will stop playing in 1:14:00. Last edited by jswinden; 12-08-2016 at 12:35 PM. |

Alladin thought of it first. And a Jinn was much better than and Alexa. That's one ugly looking lamp. Looks like a towel ring to me. I played the video and my Dot woke up and started playing a Bob Dylan song.
![]() ![]() I discovered last night that that I can say Alexa, "play sound of the ocean" and it will. Now I need to figure out how to make it do that for a set time interval so it will shut off automatically after I fall asleep. |

Try "Alexa play ocean sound". That gives me actual ocean sounds. Saying "Alexa play sounds of the ocean" made her play a sample of an instrumental with a bit of ocean sound in the background.
