I just found out AT&T has a special. GoPhone ZTE Maven 2 free with purchase of $30 prepaid card. So for a month of service you get a free phone.

I currently use a ZTE Maven 1 as my phone so I'm going to try and get the 2. It's while supplies last. It's locked so it's only good as a GoPhone or phablet.

Let me once again advise that IMHO getting a "region free" DVD player is more important that upgrading to blu-ray.

Of course, if you want to get a region free blu-ray player, that would be the best of both worlds.
