Question Removing Empty Shelves from Kobo Account
Hi everyone I have an odd issue... well, two actually, but the more pressing one is that when I sync my Kobo Aura HD, it downloads all the old, empty bookshelves and I have to use the Kobo Utilities plug-in on Calibre to remove them all. Is there a way I can "erase" the empty ones up in the Kobo account so it doesn't sync back down to my eReader?

And second, does anyone know how to disable the book cover from appearing when your device is in sleep mode? I'm sure there used to be an option... but I can't seem to find it..

Settings, Sleep and Power, SCREENSAVER, Show current read, uncheck "On" square.

The only shelf maintenance in the Kobo Utilities plugin is the function to delete the duplicate shelves that have turned up because of problems on the Kobo server. Is that what you are using? And do you have duplicates to remove? I don't think it should do anything if there are no duplicates. If this is what you are using, you also need to not select the purge option. If you use the purge option, the shelves are removed from the database in such a way that the Kobo server won't be told they have been deleted the next time you sync.

If there are no duplicates, then you should just let the driver do the shelf maintenance when the device is connected. This will delete the empty shelves in such a way that the next time you sync to the server, the shelves are deleted.

Thank you so much! I actually had to restart my eReader because there weren't any options.. and then suddenly my top bar with the date and options and stuff disappeared!! uh.. okay then.. restart fixed that!

Yes, that's what I'm using. I have duplicates, and I think I was purging the empty shelves off of the device - so that's my mistake. I'll test it when I'm home and confirm if this is what I was doing and if it fixes the issue.. thank you!

Okay so I synced my Kobo with the server, and it brought down all the empty shelves.. then I plugged my Kobo in, let Calibre do its magic, and then unplugged it. When I checked the device, there were no empty shelves. So I synced it with the server again, and still no empty shelves!!! lovely! Thank you davidfor.. exactly the fix I was looking for!
